
Dr Kate Marsh is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator, and the founder of the PCOS Health & Nutrition Centre. Kate graduated with a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney in 1995 and went on to complete a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management at UTS, Sydney. She has recently compled her PhD at the University of Sydney with Professor Jennie Brand-Miller looking at the dietary management of insulin resistance in women with PCOS.
Kate has a particular interest in PCOS, having worked with hundreds of women with this condition over the past 15 years. Kate is the chair of the Dieititans Association of Australia (DAA) PCOS Interest Group and frequently speaks to both dietitians and women with PCOS on the dietary management of this condition, including lecturing to nutrition & dietetics students at the University of Sydney. She is co-author of The Low GI Guide to Managing PCOS, The Low GI Vegetarian Cookbook and PCOS Made Easy and writes regularly for a number of publications including Diabetic Living Magazine, Healthy Food Guide and Nature & Health. Kate has published articles on PCOS and glycemic index in a number of medical journals.
Kate is a member of the editorial board for Diabetes Management Journal and the Australian Diabetes Educators Magazine, is a board member of Diabetes Counselling Online and is a member of the PCOS Alliance which is currently working on developing best practice guidelines for the managment of PCOS. She is a recipient of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) Young Achievers Award, was a NSW finalist in the 2006 Telstra Business Women's Awards and was recently awarded the Joan Woodhill Prize for Excellence in Research - Doctorate Award by DAA for her PhD study in women with PCOS.
